How does Girlie period underwear work?

Girlie period underwear features 3 layers. A moisture wicking inner layer, a super absorbent middle layer that prevents leaks and neutralizes odours. It is designed to be worn as a replacement or backup for traditional period products, depending on your flow. Our underwear works just like pads, our Ripple, Wave and Tsunami products can be thought of like a panty liner, regular pad, and maxi pad but better!

Are Girlie products reusable?

Yes, our period underwear is reusable and designed to be an eco-friendly alternative to disposable period products. Proper care and washing will help your Girlie underwear last for a long time (up to 2 years).

How long can I wear the products for?

Our products are designed to replace traditional period products entirely and can last you anywhere from 6 hours to a full day depending on your flow, and the model you’re wearing. Here is a rough estimate based on the average female below:

Ripple (Light flow) - Will last you all day if worn on your lighter flow days or to replace daily panty liners for discharge. Absorbs 15ml - about 1.5 tampons or 1 regular pad.
Wave (Medium flow) - Will last you 6-10 hours depending on your flow. Absorbs 25ml - about 2.5 tampons or regular pads.
Tsunami (Heavy flow) - Will last you 8-12 hours depending on your flow. Absorbs 30ml - about 3-4 tampons or regular pads.
Boxer shorts - Will last you 10-14 hours depending on your flow. Absorbs 40ml - about 5 tampons or regular pads.
